Nii Obodai was born - and is currently based - in Accra, Ghana and has also lived in England, and Nigeria. His work explores our expansive relationship with aspects urban and rural culture and the environment. His camera is not a detached eye, but a tool for conscious expression of self-discovery both on his part and others involved in front to his lens or, part of the audience seeing his work. Nii Obodai photographs on film and is interested in various developing and printing procedures and the resulting physical manifestations of photographs. He has exhibited widely and is currently finalising a project realised with the support of the Magnum Emergency Fund.
